Postby Runt8401 » Sun Apr 12, 2020 2:07 am

I've searched and couldn't find the answer to my question.

is there a certain brand of dies that is preferred for the the 450 in the AR platform?

Back when I got into 450, the only dies were Hornady. Most guys here bought them also. The biggest complaint IIRC was the lack of proper instructions from Hornady. I like mine .They are 10 yrs. old and I havn't any complaints. Now seems everybody has 450BM dies. Lee dies got a lot of negatives early on, but may have fixed issues. Redding makes aquality set (pricey). I have read a lot of negatives about the new small based Lyman. RCBS have always been my choice, but they were not available back then. Maybe somebody with RCBS's will chime in. Personally I like Hornady.

Hornady is the #1 choice. Trust me.

You won’t regret it. Plus most of the Team here uses the Hornady dies. If you have any issues, we have experience with those dies.

I guess I'm an exception as I use Lee dies.

I've had absolutely zero issues with them. Also like the factory crimper.

I'am approaching 5000 cases threw my Hornady dies....RCBS was my first choice for close to 30 years about 25 years ago I switched up to Hornady....still have a few Lee's that have been in service for over 50 years....
