So I should have done this when I first got the mold, but I was too interested in the hollow points to cast a flat point. I went back and mixed up an alloy I thought would hold together better, 50/50 (COWW/SOWW) and 5% added tin. I ran 2 HP pins, a CP, and a FP. Aluminum GC with .452 size, PC, and size again.

I didn't chrono any, but loaded them all at 30 grains LG for about 1900fps AMV and fired into water jugs from about 15 feet.

The FP was impressive! Mangled the first two jugs and was found in the 5th. My hornady scale died, so no weights, but looks like almost 100% weight retention.

The CP was similar to before, but seemed to hold together marginally better. I'm very curious as to the three weeks aged performance of this bullet. Found in the fourth jug.

The HP was also similar to before. Absolutely shredded two jugs, but didn't penetrate the third and was found on the ground. I don't have hope for this bullet at this velocity. I bet it would make an outstanding 45 colt Ruger only bullet.

After I do an aged bullet test I'll do some accuracy tests and have to cast more FP since I only ran one cavity. I'm a little bummed that after waiting so long (and with high hopes) for a 450BM HP mold, I end up having my best terminal ballistics with a flat point.

So these bullet molds, when you get them, do they come with the handles and everything or do you have to buy the handles separately? If you do have to buy the handles separately, well Lee commercial six mold handles function the molds properly?
Sorry if it seems like a dumb question, but I am just now getting into casting my own.

You have to buy the handles and the Lee 6 cav handles work just fine. Welcome to more addiction!

I got curious about the subsonic expansion qualities of the hollow point bullet version since it massively over expanded at full BM velocity. I ran it down to 1100 fps with SWBO powder (very dirty, don't recommend) since I don't have trail boss and I have yet to mess with fast pistol powders for sub loads.

Anyway, I'm still not impressed with the petals of this HP, they still shed. Still got tons of options for loading though from 1100-2000 fps from 45 Colt to 450 BM. Casted with 50/50 clip/stick on WW with 5% tin.
