Found information on Savage Shooters forum that Axis 22-250 magazines work well so ordered one off of eBay. Got it in Thursday and it still will need modification as it wouldn't feed the 405 grain RNFP loads I had made up.

I have the original 223 mag that I just leave in and use as a follower yes.
Feeding seems to be an issue with the Axis mag an big flat nosed bullets.

I've been doing the same thing. 250 gr FTX and 245 grain Interbonds feed smoothly from the magazine but nothing else does.
