Made it to the club range and was able to shoot before the sky opened up. Miked the Speer 400 grain JSP after sizing and they measured .453". Bullet length .980". Hornady brass used with Rem 7 1/2 primers lighting Reloader10 powder. Brass has been annealed at least twice so I haven't checked case expansion. Crimp at .475". Tested charges were from 38 grains up to 40.6 grains. Bullets seated to 2.240" which in my chamber puts them .029" OTL. Temp was 78 degrees with humidity at 88%. Elevation is at 243' MSL.
38 grains - was a sighter load to get me on target but averaged 1578 fps with an SD/ES of 12 and 24.
38.5 grains - 1603 fps, SD/ES of 7 and 14, 3 round group @ 100 yds was 1.819" with Kinetic Energy of 2282 ft/lbs.
39 grains - 1623 fps, SD/ES of 8 and 17, grouped into 1.115", Energy at 2339 ft/lbs.
39.5 grains - 1629 fps, SD/ES of 11 and 22, 1.913" group, Energy at 2357 ft/lbs.
Never got to shoot the 40.6 grain load as the sky opened up. These loads are a real shoulder thumper! Loads shot in Axis with Rhneland barrel that is 16" with a 16" twist.
