anyone seen these yet? care to venture what exactly they are?

My guess is they are Hornady and it was a bad batch of 225 ftx that they finished out. Could also be Hornady is experimenting.
Not worth trying in my opinion. They are blems, of something not currently available, but cost exactly the same as the 225 ftx's that are currently on sale. The 225 ftx have a proven track record.

The 225's have cannelures and are more stubby. We should start a pool. I'm betting its a misprint. Sure looks like either the 200 or 250 FTX. If its the 250 FTX with the core cast too light, it would be a good basis for a Range Report write up as the 225's shoot very accurately!

I may give them a call on Monday to see what the deal is.

Yeah, could be a 250 FTX with a light core, didn't think about that one. What I was thinking was they were making 225 ftx's, saw an issue in the middle of the run, and finished em out differently, maybe they finished them out like a 200 ftx. So basically a longer 200 FTX. Curious to know. Similar situation, I have some 9mm bullets that didn't match anything available as a factory option. 135gr FMJ flat points. Similar looking to a HAP, but slightly longer nose, and no hollow point. I think they used to offer a similar bullet, but not exactly the same. Who knows.

Alright, I did it. One box of 100 bullets arrived yesterday. These are flatnosed polymer insert conic bullets similar to the ones used in Hornady Critical Defense .45 Auto.
They all miked between 0.4495 and 0.4498" for diameter, and weighed varied between 219.6 to 220.5 grains. I'll see if I can make tiny pics to add here.

i know Midway has a disclaimer about appearance but the image of what they were selling was not even close to Hornady Critical Defense bullets. Glad I let get slip by my wallet. Was within a key click of ordering some when the clock struck 12 midnight and the free shipping also slipped away, cancelling my order. I look forward to your range report. Never say never...

WRT pictures, if you use MS Paint, crop out the wasted space and then shrink it down for hosting at a site like postimage.org, its relatively easy to produce 800x600 or 1024x768 images for this site that render very well. I've done it countless times over the years although some of the hosting sites have let me down by cancelling the image links. So far (knock on wood) postimage.org has left my images stand as uploaded.
