Anyone tried 185 gr SWC HP

I’ve gotten some hard cast 185gr semi wad cutter hollow points in .452. Anyone loaded anything similar?

Lightest I've gone is 200 grain lead and plated RNFP bullets. My 200 gr plated loads disintegrated leaving the barrel, pushed the way too fast in a 1/16" twist Rhineland barrel. I'm not sure how the 185 grain cast bullets would respond. Being so light and higher than normal 45 ACP velocities the bullets would shatter on game and not drive deep enough. The cast loads didn't show good accuracy at all at lower velocity in my 16" twist barrel and cases were sooted up bad.

That's what I figured. I've got a bunch of the 185's that I'll just use for my 1911.

not a lot of bearing surface on a 185gr plus the long freebore in the 450, probably best to save for acp loads.

Cast has been hit or miss, but lately a few of the guys have dialed things in. I keep wanting to build or buy a dedicated gun for cast, just need to make it happen.
