Tim warned everyone to NOT use any type of Plated bullets with the 450 Bushmaster. The speeds, heat, sheer pressures plus the twist rate will cause a failure, possibly even dangerous failure including the 1:24 twist. The 1:16 Twist puts even more centrifugal stresses on the bullet.

Ordering the plated bullets is my mistake and plated bullets should never be run at higher fps but now I'll just use load data for cast bullets like the bullets I make and coat with Hi-tek coating at slower and accurate speed for cast loads. Granted load data is currently hard to find for the 450BM and I have no intentions of paying high prices for now, plus always !!! stick to the -/+ load data amount as published.

Don’t feel bad. I bought a box way back in 2011 when I first started out. I ended up loading them for my 45ACP 1911 commander and Glock 21.

Funny thing about that, i was thinking the same thing. I would just used them for my 45 as well.

Finally got them loaded up for testing! I did the manual cycling, the plunk test and I made 6 batches and an extra batch to see if everything cycles properly. For now, the 250gr will do but was thinking 325gr or 400gr for later. I'm looking at an electronic powder scale but currently using a Lee powder scale with a needle that I glued on long ago and I have been using my phone to zoom in to see better. (old eyes)

I changed and reloaded 230gr jhp instead. The best group was 1.23 ctc with 50.5 gr of 1680 at 50 yds. BUT !!! I took a video of the muzzle brake just to see the gases, muzzle jump, etc... During the testing, I noticed a bright flash thinking it was the muzzle brake. NOPE !!! The gas block had something wrong going on ??? Is it loose, cracked, tubing, etc... I'll find out this weekend but at least I have a good idea of which load did the best group for now.!!

AA1680 is kinda slow for a 230gr bullet. According to QuickLoad, you are throwing at least 15% of your powder out the muzzle unburned. If that's all you got then it'll have to do. What seating depth are you using? IE COL?
When you get a chance, take it out to 100 yds and see how much the groups open up. That's generally the metric we use to assess performance.
