Barnes

Postby wildcatter » Mon Apr 18, 2011 9:28 am

I'm up in Idaho, doing the family thing. I gotta go down to Salt Lake City and Mona, UT (Barnes' AO) is 77 miles further south. Seems they want to have a Sit-Down on Tuesday, while I'm out here. I know it's not much time, but do you'all have any questions or thoughts for them?

Ask if they will be offering any new TSX or TTSX rounds for us 450 users. If not, make the suggestion :D Also, some banded solids would be fun just to plow through copious amount of whatever the hell we please !

well if your asking in general........................ I'd like a 450-500gr .510dia Buster for my 50-110 and 50 Alaskan lever guns...............and that would also double for the AR-10 project that I ran past ya ;)

T -- ask them why they insist on making their bullets undersize? .4505/.451 versus .452. I want .452 bullets.

all of their bullets I have measured are about .001 smaller then nominal size. I'm assuming it has to do with pressure and being solid copper, but sometimes I assume wrong

Just off the top of my head, I could guess it's because of copper's rapid heat conduction, and excellent heat capacitance might make the projectile expand more than lead?

Just a thought.

Ask them if they'll give a CARE package of 5 each of all their .451cal, 220gr or less bullets, to a fellow who writes up thorough, though overly verbose reports here? Surely would result in some additional sales. If they give 6 each, every different one will include a water jug test at the end. ;)

EDIT: Otherwise how about at least some of those 200gr XPBs to write up?

Give us a Barnes "ventilator" in 250 grains .452 Dia for hog control down here in TX. BTW, good to see ya back in here. I haven't heard from ya in a few weeks. Good luck with the Barnes folks.
