Wildcatter, what powders are you using for the subsonic loads? Are you using the same powders, just counting on the pressure from the heavier projectile to cycle the action? Or have you had to change powders to keep the action cycling?

Generally speaking you need the slower powders to keep the port pressures high enough to cycle the action. I've tried them as slow as 870 with some success. BUT, you need a really great crimp and the taper crimp isn't going to get it, but the LeGendre side crimp will, if that too is put on heavy enough..
