WC...if Siringo ever has a "bad day" at his target-holder job with your lab, just give me a call...a couple of decades as a G.I. pretty much got me used to being shot at (and missed)! :o

I also ordered a couple of hundred 225's. Need to shoot up some of my 250's and collect the brass before I get around to reloading them, though. Will post some photos when they arrive.

I just got my order of "blemished" 225's from Midway. There is some surface discoloration and one (out of 200) was missing its red cap, but otherwise I can't see any problems with them. The photo on the top is one of the boxes of 50; on the bottom are four randomly selected blemished 225's with a new 250 on the left. I have just ordered 200 more. The link to Midway is in one of the earlier posts.

I hope they shoot well....Anybody else use these??

Quite honestly, that's the first time I've seen the Hornady FTX's being offered as seconds by Midway. Someone else might be able to speak more accurately to that, but I suspect it will be a learning experience for all.

My order came last night. The blem appears to be the lack of a second cannelure at the heel, and some tarnish from them being handled and repackaged. The few I checked had consistent weight and looked to be well formed.

On my 240's the cannulers were all over the place, varying in depth.

When I toured their plant a couple of years ago, this was all visual -- the inspection process. Amazing.

Missed the absence of a second cannelure on these bullets (225's), but my understanding is that in loading these for the Bushmaster 450 the lower cannelure is inside the casing and the taper crimp goes over the top cannelure. Here is a link to the bullet, as is should look - http://www.hornady.com/store/FTX/ (scroll down to the 45 Cal .452 225 gr FTX®).

Of course, the 45 Cal .452 250 gr FTX has no cannelures at all.
