Continuing with BD1's 2nd point.

This is likely a worthwhile idea, and I'll probably try it out with a heavier bullet. However, it won't work with the 185-grain bullet I have.

A measurement to find the COAL with the 185-grain Encapsulated SWC Hornady SWC indicates that the COAL should be about 2.230 to put the bullet into the lads. The difficulty with doing just that is that the length of the bullet is about 0.515 inches. Since the case is 1.700 long, the bullet cannot be both seated in the case and touching the lands. With the bullet just touching its base on the case mouth, and not at all inside the case, the COAL is 2.215 inches, or about 0.015 short of the lands. Said another way, with the bullet in the lands, there is a 0.015 inch gap between the base of the bullet and the mouth of the case.

This is the sort of thing that makes you go "Hmmmmm !"
