Looking at the image at Midway and your loads, as well as the Hornady spec of .651 length, it appears you are holding the seating depth to 1/2 the caliber, eh?

Sooting was minimal
Slight pressure signs barely visible on a couple of cases.
Also POI was higher with this round but the group was still tight.

The most interesting discovery were these.

These are the steel plugs punched out of that steel plate.
The one at lower center was the plug I punched out today with the Hornady 230 Gr. FMJ Flat point.
The others were from the Mag Techs last week.
In the video, you can actually see the plug bouncing over the plate in slow motion.

Boy, if I had a dollar for every target group I produced with an AR that did that 3 to the left and 2 to the right, I could buy a box of bullets. Seriously, I never understood what caused that. I felt I delivered all 5 shots precisely the same way, but all I know is, I know that group well.

Nice work. Have you taken either the Magtechs or those Hornady's out to 100 yds yet? It would be interesting to see whether the group holds or diverges. With the Magtech work I did in July of 2010, I could not get them to group as tight as the 225 FTX did at 100 yds. and lost interest because I could get the 225 FTX for the same or less price during Midway's blemish sale. Still they are more than good good in terms of minute of deer.

I'd bet anything they also do better on steel plate than the FTXs.

Could you post a still picture of the case heads. I want to feel envious, because with my chamber, at those velocities, I'm usually rewarded with ejector and extractor imprinting.
