It doesn't have to be berdan primed. But using them wouldn't require using good reloadable boxer primed cases. So...worn out, split necked brass cases are welcome too.

Jerry, there's a 5lb 2 oz box with 7.62x51, 7.62x63, 7.92x57 and .45 ACP brass in it on the way Priority mail.

Jerry, You do know that you can also by the bullet cups, right? This is cool either way. Im thinking you will like the 45 acp brass as it will swage 10X easier than the thicker base 44 mag you been using

The company that comes to mind is Corbin. They get about $40/250 for their .452 diameter by .7 inch long cups.

Yeah...they are not the easiest thing to find anymore. But if I can find some that are at least .700" long, I'm in the house! Most I have seen are for short walled lead nosed bullets...like you would use in a revolver.

$40 for 250???? Dang......

Here's some interesting reading on the process of bullet swaging, tools and materials. Chapter 6 deals with swaging jacketed bullets. It has some interesting points about different jacket materials including spent brass.

I had an Idea on the possible use of ballistic tips on these. If I was to trim off the extruded lead instead of forming a tip with it...then drill out a cavity into the nose of the bullet...I could then tap(thread) the cavity for the use of those polymer 1/4" threaded dart tips. I would have to trim off the thin portion of the dart tip...but it would leave me with a nice plastic tip, I think. It would be better to swag the tip into the bullet while in the forming process...but with the makeshift tooling I have...that option won't work.

This would also lighten the bullet up a bit...how much would depend on how deep i drill the cavity.

Just a thought...
