Whats your favorite gun?

Postby Stezzman » Wed Nov 21, 2012 7:36 am

Thought it would be fun to see what was everybody's fav gun here. I know everyone here likes the 450 but for myself my favorite gun is the one handed down to me from my grandfather. The gun is a marlin lever .35 or "the deer slayer" and as long as I can remember that gun has been a part of my family and will be handed down to my son one day.

Hmmm… Almost need two categories, long gun and handgun, given the difference in use etc.

Guess my favorite rifle is an old Remington 660 in a Mannlicher stock in .308. I've put a better trigger in it. It's short, light, and accurate. Bought it from a friend.

Favorite pistol is an old Belgian made Browning Hi Power, actually my first "real" gun.

That'll ring your bell! Hehe. I've got a Remington 700 classic in 35 Whelen that my dad gave to me asa gift last year. He bought it new in '87(?) and I've always wanted that rifle ever since I could remember. He surprised me with it last year when I bought him a rifle. Every animal shot has been a one shot flop, three deer, one elk, two black bear. What more could you ask for?

My favorite rifle is my Thumper, but my favorite handgun is "Smoke"...my rare 1981 Colt Combat Government model .45 ACP that I purchased new.

Tough one...

Favorite pistol: Dan Wesson Razorback from the original run. 10mm 1911 with an elk and 2 deer felled to it.

Favorite Rifle: Weatherby MkV Ultralight in .338-06. 1st group was 3/8" at 100 yards with factory ammo. Killed an elk about 5 years ago at 505 yards, one shot literally through the heart.

I have to say the AR 15 platform due its versatility. I absolutely have black rifle fever (got a 6.5 Grendel on order). Aside from big/medium game hunting use, I love my Marlin .17 HMR, its easy on the shoulder/wallet and is accurate.

Though I have to chalk up the most deer to my Belgium Browning BAR in 300 Win Mag (loaded down to 30-06), I've got incurable BRD lately. The rifle that makes me feel the best whenever I shoot it has to be my 6.5 Grendel. Has the starch to take Moose and down, though the best it'll ever do in my hands is white tails and it is a great confidence builder.

For handguns, I really like my 357 Colt Trooper MK III with the 6 inch barrel, though I shoot my Hi Standard HD Military more. I don't get into handguns nearly as much as long guns.

Wow.... Why does it have to only be one? I love all mine. They are all my favorites otherwise, they wouldn't earn a place in my heart..... And my crowded gun safe....
Besides my 450 Bushmaster Master Blaster, I am particularly proud of my 6.5 Grendel, since I'm the one who built it.
I also love my Colt Commander and my Glocks.

It's hard not to agree with this. And then, there's always that next gun, too...
