Do I have a mid or carbine upper..

Postby thatguy » Tue Dec 21, 2010 7:39 pm

I have a Bushmaster 16" upper "shorty" (true 16" barrel - no brake of any type) and it has a fixed front sight.. Is that a midlength or carbine length handguards? (edited to add) this is NOT my 450B, but my original 5.56 upper..

I want to put on some free float handguards and the more I look online the more I get confused and none seem to have the measurement stated, just mid or carbine..

thanks

brian

Thanks.. I measured my handguards (standard plastic with heat shield with the delta ring you pull down to remove them) today and they were a tad over 6" long..

When i googled the difference I got more of the results for gas tube length and what was best for each barrel length..

thanks

I believe

Carbine 7 inches
Midlength 9 inches
Rifle 12 inches
