Please help! I am replacing the front handguard on my 450. I have removed the free floater fron my rifle and headed to the gun shop for a replacement. I had to replace the gas block (w/a dpms low profile one) for clearence, because i want to install a mid/rife length hand guard. I was told that the 223 rails would not fit. So i found a ar10 one finally. it arrived,.......too big! and wrong threads,............ok! so what will work? do i need to replace the threaded portion of this??? any help?

I thought most free float tubes came with the custom barrel nuts to fit the upper receiver and the hand guard. My YHM tubes both did. The AR15 tubes are what you need. Just be sure they come with their own custom barrel nut.
Yeah.... You will need to replace the barrel nut. Therefore a barrel nut wrench and a torque wrench that will go to at least 50 FtLbs. Midway sells a really good barrel nut remover.... I'll try and get you a stock #.
This is the one I've used on both my XM15 and my 6.5 Grendel.
