Question for the group. This seems like a nice little gun. I've watched a couple on Gunbroker and they both went for pretty good prices, one for $800 the other for $900. Seems like a pretty fair piece of change, any ideas as to why this gun seems relatively expensive?

Well... Without knowing the caliber.... Not too sure, but overall, the Ruger 77/22 I've heard is extremely accurate.

The Ruger 77/22 are well built rifles especially for a rimfire. I'm assuming 22 lr? They are built like ruger center fire rifles, accurate reliable and sturdy. I've always been interested in the 77/44 myself. I just can't seem to spend the money because to me they seem a little spendy.

Get a Savage MKII BVS or BVTS. Not entirely SS, but a real tack driver. Five different brands of quality 22 LR 10-shot groups at 50 yds. All inside 1/2". Not a lucky 3 or 5-shot group, but 10 shots, looking for repeatability. On the other end of the cost spectrum, 10-shots of unsorted bulk ammo more like 1-1.5".

Can't beat the price too!

The Savage rimfires I've seen lately are real tack drivers! Some of them are quite good looking too.

Here's a Link to an article I did on the Savage MKII BTVS and the process of vetting different ammo for it. Bottom line on 22 LR ammunition and accuracy is, you get what you pay for. More results and additional targets on each page, as I got my hands on other kinds of ammo, but all were summarized in a table on the first page.

I was looking into a 77/22, but for the price I may end up going with a Savage MK II instead. The Rugers look nice and I have a 77 Mark II 30-06 for Elk, but I'm not sure I will spend that kind of money on a 22.

A few guys I hunt with tote a 77/44. That gun is a lead slinging tack driver! One guy has a bolt action, another semi and the other is lever action. I think all of the Ruger 77's are great guns, they are not gonna win you no trophies at a bench match. But for the every day outdoorsman you wont starve if you carry one!

I've got a few Marlin 22 rifles and they are also very accurate. I've wanted to look into the Ruger bolt action 22 mag. But I already have a Marlin bolt action 22 Mag. It's a true tack driver. I've shot possums, cottontails and jack rabbits out past 125 yards with it. I made the mistake of squirrel hunting with it once. Learned real quick that head shots were the best way to go. Any other hits and the squirrels just exploded. LOL. I took it coon hunting one night and the guy with the dogs requested that I not use it unless I could positively make head shots. He didn't want the hides blown to hell.
Regarding Ruger bolt actions, I own a Ruger M77 MKII in 7mm Remington Mag. It has never failed to drop a deer in its tracks.

Hop ,I bought 77/22 allweather and Leupold rimfire scope back in the reasonable days. It was used but in like new condition. as I recall the total package ran me about $450.00. It is a well made gun but not a bullet hole for bullet hole shooter. Very good for small game rain or shine. Like so many firearms these days, the law of supply and demand drives the price. I don't believe Ruger is making this rifle any longer, so the supply is drying up. If I needed some ready cash I made have to part with mine. I see a huge profit.
