At this time I'm laying in the weeds listening to others who get one first. Then..........?

Buddy and I have been supporting Anheuser-Busch stocks on it for the last couple months :o right now the reason "to have" are out weighing the "we don't need one" by a slim 30pk margin

I really don't have an interest in the .224 V, mainly because I don't shoot 1000yds. Don't have access to anything near that.
In my personal opinion, I think they should have made it a 6mm. AR15Performance has a 6.8 shortened and necked to a 6mm called the TAC6, getting similar velocities from 105gr bullets, with similar b.c., out of an 18" barrel. I think he's mentioned making longer barrels later. That's what I would go with, but then again, I reload, so I don't need factory ammo.

Edit - If you are interested in getting a .224V, I hear you want a 1:6 twist for the 90gr bullets, which most companies don't make yet.

I just built a .224 V.

I've got a 22" BCA barrel, with Anderson upper and lower. The barrel's pretty heavy, with the rifle weighing 12 lbs.

Unfortunately I have to wait for nice weather before trying it, so it's waiting, waiting waiting...

I've got BCA's 24" barrel on my 6.5 Grendel and got .75 MOA at 200 yds, so I'm pretty comfortable with this one.

I've got 100 rounds of Federal's 75 grain loads and have handloaded 100 rds using Hornady's new 88 grain HPBT bullet. The 75s leave at 3,000 fps while the 88s go at 2750. The 88 grainers are really long. I've got some 95 Sierra bullets arriving today. They'll drop more over all ranges, so I doubt I'll gain much from there. They recommend a 1:6.5 barrel and I've got a 1:7, so I'm wondering... I think I'll be okay as I'm pushing them out fairly quickly.

Using Vortex Optics' nice ballistics calculator, the 75 will fly straighter to 800 yds, while the 88 take over from there. The range I go to goes up to 560 yds, so I won't be breaking any records there. I don't think my scope will fit past 800 anyway.

Sorta had this back burnered buried, but was just looking at BCA's barrels over the weekend, cheap enough to give a try.

That is me all over. I also built one, but I do have the 24" tube. I have absolutely no need, or want to shoot 1000 yards, but in my recent ARitis, I didn't have one, so........ Also waiting for late Spring weather to try it out.

I'll probably never shoot beyond 500, but that's still a challenge.

Unfortunately, we're under about 12 feet of snow yet, so I have to wait.

And another 1 foot on the way, tonight and tomorrow, followed by another storm in 3 days. This is payback for the mild intro into winter. I am sick and !@#$% tired of clearing my driveway so the crap doesn't melt inside my garage and percolate down into my shop below it. :| It wouldn't be so bad if it warmed up enough for some of it to melt. We had an ice storm about 2 weeks ago. That's what's still down beneath the last foot of snow. Try snow blowing on an ice bed with anything other than a tracked bulldozer.

That having been groused about, I won't mind when in July, we have 4 days in the 90's, 22 days in the 80's and 5 days in the 70's. Image

Yeah, the most I've seen in this area for ages.

Almost as bad as when I lived in Superior.

Remember the "Megastorm" of 1991?
