Dropped a second deer later in the season. I took out her shoulder. She ran/pushed about 20 yards, fell and struggled to try and get up, so I popped a second (totally unneeded) round from rear quarter toward front opposite shoulder.

I never found either bullet, but did find lead and copper jacket fragments in both deer which I do not like.

Next year I’ll hunt with solid copper loads. I have some Maker Bullet 150gr loads to try. And if Barnes ever gets some 350 legend ammo out I’ll try it

Bear Creek Ballistics might have a 350 round too.

Thanks Al. I’d not heard of BCB before. I’ll check them out. I like to support local, Michigan-based businesses.

Stay healthy.

not the cheapest rounds out there, but seen pics of a recovered one and it was flawless.

Will do. Probably will do some chrono testing in the next few weeks. Animal testing will commence in the early antlerless season in September. I have to eat more venison to make room in the freezer!

150gr Bear Creek Review out of 12” SBR...

Velocity at about 10 feet from the muzzle averages 2161fps. S.D was 22.5 on my five shot test group. 100yd 5-shot group size was 1.49” with two shots touching and the other three touching. I have an issue with the suppressor contacting the hand guard that I need to rectify. That and a higher power scope should tighten things up. Still, 1.5moa on an SBR hunting gun with 4x scope ain’t bad!

I’ve killed two deer so far this year with the Bear Creek Ballistics 150gr out of my 12” barrel.

Holy crap, Batman. Both deer had ENTRANCE holes around three inches in diameter. Exit holes were much smaller, which I attribute to the lower exit velocity.

Dressing out the deer I found the lungs to be basically like grape jelly.

I’ll stick with heart/lung shots with these. The damage if you hit the shoulder reduces your meat yield.

All in all, I like this load. It shoots tight, hits hard and does a great amount of damage.

Now, for deer three, do I stick with the 350 or give my new 6mm ARC SBR a chance to draw blood…?

IMHO Go out on the horse you came in on.

Probably a good idea, but I keep building these rifles and kind of feel guilty if I don’t make them feel loved by taking them hunting!
