.30 caliber AR15

So I decided I want an AR15 in some 30 cal version.. I would like something I could buy ammo for in a pinch. I haven't done any reloading in about 20 years. I still have my reloading stuff in the basement. The question would be which one.
30 rem ar, 300 OSSM, 30 blackout or something I have never heard of before. This would be mostly for deer size critters at max of 200-250 yards. I suppose I could use my .450, but I was thinking some faster and flatter. I have decided for some reason 30 is the way I want to go.. so no 6.8 SPC, no 6.5 Grendel. If I was going to go that route I would look at a 25 WSSM. I am not in a big rush.. well maybe :) In case it matters, I have a DPMS lower with a 5.56 upper, a 450bm upper and .410 Safir shotgun upper. So I think some 30 caliber would fit right in there.

You can always go with Oly's 30 OSSM. If Remington is involved -- check in the JC Whitney Catalog first!l (joke -- they always advertized first and only shipped when they had enough orders).

I'm thinking you'll be best served with an AR-10 in .308?

no ar10.. except maybe a civilian version of the Colt CM901............ since it will take an ar10 and an ar15 upper.. I just want to stick with my dpms lower and go with ar15 uppers...

I'm already underway on my .300 OSSM. In this thread I am discussing it. Also, I'm Hoot over at oa2.org where I have a thread in the WSSM sub-forum with a more in depth discussion. Just waiting for something resembling decent weather to get to the range. It's been below zero the past three days. Minus double digits in the mornings and as soon as the sun sets, back down she goes. Currently -14 and dropping again. Worst winter I can recall since the winter of 76-77, the year I moved here. If it wasn't for my work, I'd be fed up with this place.

Personally, I'd wait and see what happens in this market. I think the 300 ossm is the most exciting, but ammo is high and who knows how this will play out  . I would like to know what you think of your safir .410 though.

Since I am not in a huge hurry, I am watching what the OSSM does. Hadn't even thought about 7.62 x 39.
Ah yes, my Safir .410... Actually it is a fun thing. I haven't hunted anything but clay birds with it. I have a number of 5 shot mags and 2 of the 14 round mags. The 14's are a little touchy, but the 5 shot ones work fine... unless you drop them in damp dirt. then you have to clean them. Not all 2 1/2 inch 410 ammunition is the same length. Winchester stuff is to long to fit in the magazine. Remington, Federal and Estate work very well. I just took the magazine with me the first time I bought ammo.

That must be one helluva job you got there! I can't handle the month of winter we have down here as it is  .

So the safir doesn't shoot 3"?
