:D :D Thanks for the gun porn Mudder! :D :D My old lady and bank account now hate you but my gun safe envy's you
Seriously though, I have always wanted a Grendel. I just hate how Bill Alexander licenses out ammunition rights. Not that it will dissuade me from owning one in the near future. ;)

I HAD A DPMS LR308, IT'S ONE OF THOSE SELLERS REGRET DEALS. I WAS OFFERED MORE THAN I COULD TURN DOWN. IT WAS THE 24" FLUTED STAINLESS WITH F/A AND S/D. IT WAS ALSO ONE OF THE MOST ACCURATE RIFLES I'VE EVER OWNED. I DON'T THINK YOU GO WRONG WITH THE DPMS. THAT SAID, I HAVE A SPRINGFIELD M1A SCOUT THAT ABSOLUTELY SHOOTS BETTER THAN I DO. IT'S BY FAR MY FAVORITE 308, AND THE CLASSIC GOOD LOOKS AND FEEL OF THE WALNUT IS A BONUS! I LIKE THE AR PLATFORM, BUT I LOVE MY M1A! THANKS' FOR ALLOWING MY 2 CENTS, CDOG

That thing sure is pretty. I absolutely love the m14/m1a platform and definitely see one(maybe two) having its place in my collection. Hopefully one in a National match configuration and another in a Short Rifles "BullDog 762" M1A/M14 Rifle bullpup conversion to go along with the FAL and RFB I intend on buying as well. I just wish I could win the lottery so I could get them all at once. I guess I should include that after some careful thought I ended up buying a DPMS LR308 AP4 in 16" then added a quad rail and an Osprey 10-40x50 scope. I haven't even fired a shot from it or sighted it in yet because I just haven't had the time to start the barrel break in procedures yet. Also got one of those nifty 40 round mags from Shannon over at http://www.armageddonmag.com . The DPMS allows me to purchase a POF upper in the future. Thanks Guys.

Well I did the barrel break in as well as scope sight in today and I must say that I am pretty impressed. I was able to get one ragged hole with British surplus 147grn @ 100 yards. I was using an Osprey 10-40x50 mildot that I got a screamin deal on. Probably the most accurate 16" carbine out of the box I have ever owned. Now that I got the barrel break in done I can use the 40 round mag I got from Shannon over @ http://www.armageddonmag.com . Mudder, your into the Grendel, do you have any opinions on Les Baer's .264 LBC? From what I have read it will shoot the Grendel ammo as well, just a different chamber design.

Nobody really knows for sure how it will shake out. Les Baer makes quality arms, and they did make licensed Grendels for awhile that shot well so I have no doubt they will be good quality. The thing people aren't sure of is how the chamber differences will effect the performance. The difference is very slight but enough to cause some question.

Don't know if this post belongs here, but here it is.

Just got this in the weekly email from gunreports.com. They have picked the Fulton Armory FAR-15 Predator Varmint Precision 223 Rem as their gun of the week. There are a few features that they have reviewed that will be of interest:

LaRue Tactical (http://www.laruetactical.com) LT104 30mm QD Lever Mount
Super Sniper 16X42 Model SS16X42 Scope
    Side-Cocking Module
Giessele Trigger (best out of all the guns tested)
Magpul, PRS Precision adjustable sniper stock

I had never heard of the "side-cocking module," which gunreports describes as follow, "The side-cocking module deserves a little more explanation. In lieu of the standard charging handle, the side-cocking module replaces the bolt cover and fits into the side of the gun by machining away the brass deflector. The bolt remains open after the last round is fired, but the shooter releases it by hitting the traditional bolt-release lever or tugging backward on the side-cocking module. Even the two lefties in were impressed with this feature."

The full report can be read at http://www.gunreports.com/gow/long_guns/Fulton-Armory-FAR-15-Predator-Varmint-Precision-223-Rem_3801-1.html?ET=gunreports:e1186:138145a:&st=email.

There are a lot of companies chasing the high buck clientele over the volume sales clientele right now. I'm seeing some seriously big-buck packages coming to market left and right. You see a lot of them in the gun rags. You know the ones you sit on the throne looking at, knowing they might as well be made from unobtainium as far as your budget is concerned.

Accuracy Systems has a roster that would wave any Thumper enthusiast's flag in the breeze. Then you see the price and the flag goes to half mast.

Black Rifles are becoming the new precious metals of the investment world.

Looking at the features on that Fulton Armory 15, including the side-cocking mod and without even going to the web site, Carnac the Magnificent is thinking... $2k.

Anybody who's anybody over on Arfcom, has a side-cocking rig. It's up near the top of the matrix these days. -nuff said ;)

Well, Hoot, you're wrong. It's not $2,000. It's $1,994. And I thought you were infallible!
