Postby Al in Mi » Sun Jun 20, 2010 5:19 am

are their any other choices out there besides a Beowulf or a BMG?

I'm plenty happy with my 450, just a diehard 50cal guy at heart.

Yup, by the end of summer, I'll have a couple of fifties available. Neither done on the 50AE case, cause I want a modern day, high pressure, readily available, rifle case, as the parent case, to keep us reloaders happy. One will be at .500 inches the other will be in the .525-.530" arena. They'll both use the Kill-Bullet and the .530+-, will be street legal with the ATF..t

Dang you Wildcatter! I just got laid off Friday so the next rifle will have to be after this pistol build due to financial reasons. Please keep us informed on this new project if and when you can. Might have to sell one of the race cars to help get it and a few others as I haven't been racing since my back surgery last September. I would really love to see a .50 caliber option in the ar10/lr308 platform though.

Wouldn't it make more sense to come up with a .458 caliber based AR10? I would think that you could get 45-100 or maybe even 45-120 performance (I have no real idea) from a cut down 30-06 shell which I believe (I may be wrong) will work in a 308 bolt.

There just aren't that many 50 cal bullet suited something like this.
