Sorry it has taken so long to reply. Gator checks are .080" height and after sizing to .454", only .083". I don't think the .007" difference in check height and port diameter (.090") is going to be detrimental. Think about it. The gas has velocity and momentum. It is going to have to turn 90 degrees and go towards the front of the gas check to cause any damage. It is going to be milliseconds that a condition will occur that the boolit will be exposed to possible damage and in that time, the cast bullet has travelled how far down the bore so that only the gas check is exposed to any hot, high pressure gas. Now with the shorter pistol gas checks, its another story.
