I am receiving some samples from Gator. They didn't know the height either. They thought they were .625, but when the are resized to .452, maybe they grow. If I can find anyone to buy these, I am going to have to buy a setup from Corbin.

Sorry it has taken so long to reply. Gator checks are .080" height and after sizing to .454", only .083". I don't think the .007" difference in check height and port diameter (.090") is going to be detrimental. Think about it. The gas has velocity and momentum. It is going to have to turn 90 degrees and go towards the front of the gas check to cause any damage. It is going to be milliseconds that a condition will occur that the boolit will be exposed to possible damage and in that time, the cast bullet has travelled how far down the bore so that only the gas check is exposed to any hot, high pressure gas. Now with the shorter pistol gas checks, its another story.

I was wondering if someone could mill a lee 2 cavity down enough to get the gas check to snug up against the bottom band it would omit the bottom grease groove. If gas is going in the grease groove that would block it.Lee molds are cheap and if it worked great,if not, not much lost. The gator checks wouldn't need as much taken off and you would still have a little bottom grease groove with the Hornady checks. My saeco 250GC swc mold has a very small bottom grease groove and its accurate in my 45colt and 454 casull pushed hard.

I finally got to play with the 450B last Friday. I loaded with Lil gun and with H110 using the Lee 45-300. My groups were all under 2" with 1 group at 1.75".

Way to go! Care to share the load? I'm still patiently waiting for the extra tall .45 gas check maker from Pat Marlin. Shooting of all kinds has been on the back burner for a month or so as I'm remodeling the kitchen, and getting a little pressure from SWMBO to git'er done.
