Someone used the Tubbs Final Finish on their barrel and it allowed his bullets to be seated out to 2.300.

It sounds like some of the barrels have a rough throat.

The bench rest guys like a short throat so for a handloader it isn't a big deal.

I'm going to try short bullets like 85 grain sierra HP's for yote hunting and plinking until the throat wears in.

For deer hunting the 100 grain TTSX is a great choice.

The Berger VLD hunting Bullets might work well with a short throat since they like to be close to the lands.

They are accurate at long range but mag length limits getting close to the lands.

The short throat would help with that.

At 200 yards it shot around 1 inch with a nosler bullet. They're going to make an entire family of cats,22x6.8,6mmx6.8,257x6.8,and 30x6.8 along with the 6.5.The 6.5 and 257 look like they would make a good dual purpose round.Would only need one bushing for 6.8 redding die.One inch at 200 sounds good so I'm thinking about the 6.5x6.8 now.Might be able to get whats good from both in one cat.

All the variants are available no except the 30. Accuracy on the entire family borders on the unreal.

For the OP I find that loading for the two is a toss up. Capacities are virtually identical with the G. being easier to use longer heavier bullets in.

After checking out the 264LBC/6.5grendel I'm real impressed.
The accuracy is second to none.
I'm very glad I went with it.
Many groups go around half inch and my best one went into a .320 bughole with the BHW 264LBC barrel.
The 123's are the most consistent.
I haven't had any FTF,FTE, or bolt problems.
Maxim bolts from PF with their extractors work well.
