I started at 39 grains and went up to 41 grains going up 1/2 grain each time, loading 4 of each charge. I am seating to 2.122" and taper crimping to what calipers show to be 0.474". There was no soot on any cases and the accuracy was very pleasing, especially the 41 grain load. The gun is a Remington R-15 VTR and I have a Leupold VX3 2.5-8x36 scope on it. It shot a three hole four shot group at 100 yards with the three holes touching. Gun season starts here on Saturday and I look forward to deflating a whitetail with it.

Just for what its worth, I bought a Limbsaver recoil pad to replace the plastic meat tenderizer the gun came with. Man, what a difference!

Nice shooting.

Get yourself a Ross brake, makes a huge difference.

good luck Saturday, lot of corn still up around here, could be a very quiet morning.

I believe Remington chose to neuter the R15 barrel. IE Politically Correct, non-threaded muzzle.

In Theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In Practice, there is.

I wouldn't say neutered, more like circumcised. ;)

Well, a few weeks ago I was fortunate enough to take a couple of deer with the thumper. Both were less than 100 yards and both dropped instantly. I recovered the bullet from the largest one ( a doe about 140 pounds ) and weighed it. It was 158 grains out of the original 225 grain FTX. I found it just under the skin on the other side of the deer after demolishing both shoulders.

Splat!!! Well done. How do you like the 225? I'm a fan of the Barnes bullets myself but you can't argue with success. I've not shot anything with the Barnes bullets in 450 bushmaster but the 250ftx worked great on the one doe that I have been able to harvest.

I can't find anything to complain about. Accurate as I can shoot, kicks less than 250 grain, kills on contact! I would try the Barnes but can't justify the price. Most places I have seen them in stock want about $1.00 a piece for them.
