Thanks for your guys n gals help. I went to the range today with my unfired American 450 and my first go at cast bullets. I made some Lee 310's gas checked, powder coated, and water quenched. Made from 100% wheel weights. They had a Brunel hardness of 15 according to my Lee tester.

I used h110 and loaded from 27g to 40g in .5g increments. I watched for any sign of pressure and never had any all the way to the top. Also no leading what so ever. My reload data for the 450 went to 34.5g and I took it to 40g using 460s&w data...not telling anyone to try this! I did some research and found the Americans action is stronger than the AR load data given in most books and is the same action they use for their 300WSM.

My goal was one MOA at a 100 yards...which I got close at 1.250". Had 6 groups under 2" and three at 1.5"

My 100 yard grouping results ....

27g. 3.0"

27.5g. 4.5"

28.0g. 1.9"

28.5g. 1.9"

29.0g. 1.5"

29.5g. 1.9"

30.0g. 3.2"

30.5g. 3.3"

31.0g. 3.2"

31.5g. 3.7"

32.0g. 3.5"

32.5g. 1.9"

33.0g. 5.9"

33.5g. 3.5"

34.0g. 4.6"

34.5g. 3.5"

35.0g. 2.3"

35.5g. 1.250" (best group)

36.0". 4.0"

36.5g. 1.5"

37.0g. 2.6"

37.5g. 3.4"

38.0g. 1.5"

38.5g. 2.8"

39.0g. 3.5"

39.5g. 4.0"

40.0g. 3.4"

Any suggestions on how to shrink my grouping? My cast bullets were within 1 grain of each other. I'm going to try .2g above and below 35.5g of H110.

On the larger goups, we're they all over the place or just one bullet that opened things up?
