Barnes 275 TSX Load Data

After burning the internet down; I am still questioning load data for the 275 Barnes TSX bullet. I will be loading for a bolt gun and looking for a good starting place. I plan on loading H110. How long does a person dare to run these COL? I am assuming I still need a good crimp even with the bolt gun? Should this crimp fall on one of the grooves of the bullet? What is a spot to start at for a bolt gun. I am finding info for the AR platform of about 34 -37.5. How much can a person increase this for a bolt gun?

Thank you for any input that you may have.

Bob

As far as over all length, I run the TSX at 2.33” in my AR’s. At that length you taper crimp in the front of the first groove. Then I stab crimp into the second groove. What’s also nice is the grooves are the same distance apart as the 200 XPB. So crimping is the same between the 2. At that length, a windowed mag is needed. In a bolt gun, you will have to see. As far as H110 charge at that length, I’ll have to check my notes to see what I started out with. Didn’t play much with H110, but most likely will be soon.

you'll sorta be in uncharted waters for any bolt gun data, I have never used H10/296 but have used 300MP and 4227 in the 700 I built. 2.400ish OAL with a regular taper crimp with no issues.

That looks like a 200XPB at around 2.4”.

From my notes it looks like for a 275 TSX loaded out to 2.33”, an 85% fill of Win296 is about 37.5gr. With Win296/H110 you don’t want to go below 80%.

Now I must tell you tell you that I do not have a bolt gun in 450B, just AR’s, and on top of that the loads I have tried, I know they are safe in my 1:24 twist barrels. So I have no idea what’s safe for your rig.

For reference, here is a pic of the 275 TSX at 2.33” (far right).

that ones a 275gr over bigger dose of 300MP for the Ruger #1. The 450B has .200 of freebore so you can seat things out a good bit for the single shots and bolt guns.

here were first 3 shots last fall with the 275gr from the #1, sans a little left adjustment, I called it good enough.

Oh, ok. That’s a 275 XPB. The extra driving band up front made me think it was a 200 XPB barely in the case.
