As far as the feeding problems go.....How do the guys using the wssm based rounds get around this?

Actually, I have used a 450 Bushmaster magazine in my 300 OSSM. They get around the clearance necessary to accommodate the larger diameter bolt and bolt carrier by cutting the upper part of the mag latch hole higher, making the mag set about 1/8-3/16 inch lower. The amount needed to clear the lips. Picks 'em up smooth as silk. They also notch the front and rear mag walls down a little bit like the 450b does with just the front.

Bigger bolt carrier looks like this:

So then the biggest problem is the pressure limits due to having less meat around the chamber? Is it possible to just make it out of larger stock?

But then you would have to have a custom upper to allow for the extra large chamber? Hence a custom barrel nut?

Yes you would but it should be doable shouldn't it?

If they can make that 50XS work, I don't see why not. But what kind of ballistics could we get?
I'm sure that an upper could be custom made for just about anything from 22LR up to whatever.

That's the part I don't know? I have no way of figuring out what the possibilities are for the round. Does anybody have a program that could predict it?

the 50XS is on a Oly WSSM upper which has the larger diameter nut and a larger diameter barrel extension, an Oly exclusive. I don't think there is enough meat in the threaded end of a standard AR15 upper to make it work. I have one of Detechs .243 wssm uppers (which is a Oly), I'll see what I can measure up for differences without pulling it down. Things a laser and I don't want to mess with it too much.

I've looked at this sideways, straight on, backwards, upside down for a couple of years now, and the only option I seen is pulling down a Oly and rebarreling, or the AR10 route which I'm headed for.

So how would one go about having a barrel made for this animal?
