.45 Colt rifle loads?

It's a disease, I see a rifle I like and I've got to have one. This time it was a Marlin '94 with a 16" barrel. The closes I could get was a .45 Colt with a 20" barrel, however I do have a hacksaw.

Anyway I have a ton of 230 JHP's, some H110, 4227 and some 1680. Anybody have some good rifle loads for .45 Colt using the 230 gr. JHP's?

Ata Boy Slasher, ain't nothing going to slow you down, that's for sure. The way you run around here with your hair on fire, I'm starting to think you got some of these guys to sell you some of that Napalm-Hair Cream they've been using too...wink

Okay, this may be a stupid question, (my wife, the college professor, says there are no stupid questions, just stupid people asking questions) but do you really need to remove the barrel of a Marlin 94 from the receiver to chuck it in a lathe and chop some of the barrel off?
Couldn't you just strip off all the furniture, magazine tube, lever and such and then stick it in the lathe, let the bare receiver stick out the back and then turn it slow? (really, I am that clueless, and the local gunsmith wants $150 to do it.)

See, I want to take a perfectly good Big 5 $400 Marlin 1894 .45 Long Colt with a 20" barrel and turn it into a 16" Cowboy Urban Assault Weapon firing 8 240 gr. Hornady XTP/Mag HP's at 1600 fps.

It would be a light, easy to handle, sheeple friendly, awesome home defense gun that won't get me into trouble with local Law Enforcement if I get pulled over on my way to the range for busted tail light, yet still strike fear in the hearts of Zombies, Bad Guys, Wild Pigs and most North American four legged critters.

I think I would just get a "Peace Maker" to go along with it!

can be done as you say, slow is the key word.

You could also lopp it off with a saw, Brownells has muzzle squaring cutters along with crowning cutters, then a dab of cold blue to finish it off.

35 Grs of FFG and a 250 gr. bullet. The smoke, fire and boom will scare the hell out of any zombie!

See what I'm talking about Slasher, the last several post are hair cream salesmen and there will be others along soon enough that will give you hair dressing secrets too.. I particularly enjoyed the one about your rifle needing a little buddy, as in a pistol in the same cal...You guys are great, and I mean it..

Yeah! I found those Brownell crowning tools after I first posted. Same price as the gunsmith, and I'll still have to cut the dovetail for the front sight myself, but I'll at least have the tools when I'm done!
Maybe re-finish the stock, receiver peep sight....

Let's see, gun $400. Dies, shell plate, case trimmer, crowning tools, receiver peep sight, re-finishing supplies, sling, 500 bullets, 200 cases, powder, primers, probably $200 to $300 more. Going to the next tactical rifle match and out shooting most the young guys with their AK's and AR's all tricked out with Red Dots, scopes, lasers and barrel compensator's, priceless.

I will have to make a speed loader for it though...
