Great Bill, now we're getting somewhere. That conversation with Don, must have been very interesting.
Though the .38 wad-cutters are generally .358" in dia, as opposed to my .355" bullet, they are still in the Ball-Park, kinda sorta, both being .35 caliber.
The 1.3" group at fifty yards, if shot in a vacuum, equates to a linear line that is 5.2" at 200yds or 2.6 MOA.
I'm wondering if someone has data on really straight shooting .358" rifles, though not apples to apples, might still reveal some interesting data. This data might be tough to quantify, as no one really uses this caliber in Bench-Rest or other Competitions, but worth looking for.
How about data from 9mm Matches? Or how about a rifle barreled 9mm pistol, with a rifle stock. I know I'm stretching, but somebody, somewhere has done this work???
We're closing in.
