Anybody tried one of these? Sounds a lot easier than most of the adjustable gas blocks...

Could this be useful for launching the heavies in the 450b?

OK, I give up. I see the one adjustment screw, but not the set screw. Or, is the one at the rear of the key, the set screw?

Any reports from users regarding additional challenges keeping the inside of the key clean?

from what i read the locking screw is just another set screw that you put in behind the adjustment screw.

Yep...the pics do everything but show you the most vital elements; the gas port and two setscrews to adjust flow and lock the adjustment...editor, where were you? It has the standard two mount screws, with threadlocker on them. On the back side of the angled flat section is the actual adjustable port, wherein one installs the first setscrew for adjusting gas flow to meet one's needs. After adjustment of the first setscrew is done, you use the second setscrew to lock the adjustment. Cleaning should be relatively straightforward I would think...spray solvent and a pipe cleaner should do it. I just ordered one to check it out. Will post what I find in a few days, especially the cleaning aspect.

i would recomend NOT staking the gas key until you've tested it out. once you have a positive result (if you do) THEN go back and stake the gas key.

i would NOT rely on any threadlocker to hold your gas key screws in place - and if one of those comes loose, it could very well cause a stoppage that will require destruction of either the charging handle or possibly even the entire upper.

a guy on the blackout forum had a handguard screw get into his charging handle above the BCG and ended up having to cut apart his brand shiny new $250 Seekins Precision upper.

you can see the screw in the pic.

"Variety is the spice of life"
I have a couple of adjustable gas blocks on different caliber uppers, but in their case, the difference in pressure between each end of the bullet weight and powder charge spectrum pales compared to this voluminous caliber. I have never tried one on my 450b despite being tempted. Namely because I wanted to have enough gas to get the cycling job done regardless of what I'm loading for it and quite honestly, lacked faith. I eagerly await your results!

Adjustable gas key arrived today...now I need to figure out how I want to mess with it in the 450b...any suggestions are welcome. Adjustable blocks are usually nice to have to prevent overgassing in 5.56s with lightweight BCGs, etc. I'll think about it tomorrow...been up way too late with the sick wife tonight...
