This is tragic.

ANAHUAC, Texas – A woman was found dead outside a home after she was attacked by several feral hogs Sunday morning in Chambers County, according to Sheriff Brian Hawthorne.

Coincidentally, I was shooting clays in a local gun clubs wooded course, where I have seen pigs rooting around before. Friday I shot clays there, and when I got back to the clubhouse, I noticed I had forgotten something about a half mile into the course. I left my shotgun in my car, and as I was walking back toward the last station, I heard grunting in the woods off to the side. I had the story of the woman killed by hogs in mind, so I was looking around for climable trees - of which there were none. The best I could do was to carry a large rock.

I think I will be taking my shotgun and some spare buckshot shells with me, the next time I venture onto the course.

BTW, the last time I was hunting hogs, I was charged by one I surprised in tall grass. Fortunately, I had my BM450 and needed all three shells in the mag to stop it.
