Postby Texas Sheepdawg » Wed Feb 16, 2011 6:12 pm

Stopped by one of my favorite toy stores today.....

They had some cool stuff but were out of stock on some stuff I need.
Hope the truck comes in soon.

I am so blessed down here in TX!
I have a Cheaper than Dirt 25 minutes away and another about
1.5 hours away.
I have TWO Bass Pro Shops within an hours' drive.
I have one Cabelas about an hour away and soon to have another Cabelas
thirty minutes from my house opening this April 2011!
I have Gander Mountain about 45 minutes away,
Two Dicks sporting goods, about thirty minutes away.
And 3 Academy Sports 25- 45 minutes away!
You gotta admit that Dallas Fort Worth
ROCKS!!

I do enjoy visiting my local "goodies" outlets, but it seems that
everytime I talk to store employees, I find I am talking to someone
who can't seem to keep their negative biases about Glock and
more recently, the 450 Bushmaster out of their conversations.
Or they are just cocky and think they know more about firearms
than I do. I guess it's just a customer service issue and they don't
know how to talk to clients. For instance, while at CTD, I was
looking at a Glock that I am extremely interested in adding to my
collection and this 20 something year old clerk was trying to explain
the Glock action and safeties to me and comparing them to
another brand incinuated that Glocks weren't as "Safe" as the
"other" brand. And I'm sorry, but Glock did not copy S&W sigmas'
pattern. It is the other way around. I just told the kid I was fully
aware of how the safeties operated, never telling him I actually
used to shoot GSSF tourneys.
Or you run into a clerk who has some sort of contempt that I would
be wanting to custom build a lower citing how it is illegal to build
a receiver capable of full auto unless I have a FFL and stamps when
I never even expressed a desire to do such a thing and never even
discussed the trigger group since I am buying it from Bushmaster direct.
Nevertheless, the clerk seems convinced I am up to no good and casts
a very negative spin on the process I am going to go through for a background
check to a point where some folks might walk out of CTD feeling guilty for even
considering building a lower on their own...... (Yet, CTD has every part a client
would need to build a DPMS parts filled lower).
Or I run into a store manager who refuses to carry the 450 bushmaster ammo
yet has the Remington version of the 450 Bushmaster AR hanging on his wall for
sale and clearly states that if I Buy the Remington, he would special order the ammo
For me.....(I'm sure at a whopping discount....sic).
So there it is. If you already own a 450 Bushmaster, he won't stock
or even sell you ammo for it.
What's wrong with this picture?

And since I am apparently ranting, just how hard is it for a
franchise like Cheaper than Dirt to keep stripped lowers in stock?
If there is a shortage, I'm not seeing it from other distributors.
Also..... Check this out.
I overheard the manager telling a customer that CTD would
Let the customer order an FFL required item from another
Distributor to be shipped to CTD but they would charge this
client a whopping $75 processing fee since he didn't buy the item
From CTD. My FFL guy only charges me $25.
Is this normal or is this rape?
Okay, I'm through ranting now. I'm sorry.
But I just don't see how anyone would call
What my local CTD does as outstanding
customer service. And since I spent 14 years
of my career in the retail hardware lumber
Industry, I believe I know customer service
Or lack thereof when I experience it.

Seems lke 75 is the going rate for the retail chains,my local Cabelas and Gander also charge that.
I use a neighborhood FFL, he's at 30.

I talked to my FFL guy today. He's only gonna charge me
17.00 per serial #.... I'm happy about that.
Now I'm having other monkey wrenches being thrown into
my projects. It's one issue after another. Murphys' Law needs to take
A vacation and leave me alone.
