1730 Pelican Transport Case

Postby BillytheKid » Sun Aug 21, 2011 11:54 am

I finally "pulled the trigger" early this morning on one of these at Dvor. Sale price was $325.00 with only $9.99 FLAT FEE shipping!

I wanted a quality, lockable, water tight, dustproof case, with pressure valves, and wheels that would fit into my Pontiac Grand Am trunk and hold both Thumper and Tinkerbell scoped uppers, along with the YMH complete lower.

Certainly the price is lower than purchasing a Pelican case for each set up.

I think I did ok?

Thank you! I figure, between Thumper and Tinkerbell, I've got everything covered from Bear all the way down to Rabbit!

And, , , it all fits easily into my car trunk.

In the past, I have preferred Hardigg Storm Cases over Pelican. They were just as indestructible, water proof, etc., but they were lighter and cheaper. However, it appears that Pelican has acquired Hardigg with the predictable results. I don't see a better deal on a single case of the size you need out there.

I did check Sportsmans Guide (my "go to" source for price comparisons) and found a Pelican Double Rifle case for $199 at http://shop.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=533969. It shows it holding two conventional scoped rifles, but the difficulty with "modern sporting rifles" usually comes with the hand grip making the "height" of the rifle difficult to fit. It is also pretty long - 53", so fitting in the SUV may be a problem, and it has no room for your lower.

Looks like you got what you needed at a fair price.

Hi Jim, Thank you. I've seen that one, and noticed they didn't list purge valves either.

It has a purge valve - visible just to the right of the handle in the enlarged image - the little round thing with the orange semicircle (it is actually a directional arrow) above it.

Thanks for the heads up on the pelican case at sportsmans guide. I have been looking for 6 months now to find one under $200. With buyers club memb I got it for $180. Also got zombie hunter dust cover and bio hazard takedown pins for my thumper.
