Looking for help with scope rings.

Postby wvhoghunter » Thu Nov 24, 2011 10:17 am

I have my upper on the way and have a Bushnell elite 3-9x50 that I want to mount on it. What would be a good ring to use without breaking the bank? I have been working on my build for almost a year now getting real excited that I am almost done. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Allen

I don't know what your budget is, but you'd have a real hard time talking me out of a PEPR mount on any AR I put together. The cheapest I've found them is $69.00 on sale.

I have the PEPR on Thumper and Tinkerbell. Solid mount, and I am very happy with it.

Thanks for your advice will they work with the 50mm objective? I believe it works out to about 56mm. I have one on my remington 700 and have med rings on it. Do the AR platforms work out the same way or would I need to go to high rings. I am also thinking about quick detachable so I can swap out with an EOTEC sometime down the road. Once again thanks in advance for any help.

Tinkerbell is a Bushmaster Predator in .223, and on top in the PEPR mount is a Minox 3-9 x 50 scope. If the dimensions of your Bushnell are similar, then it should not have any issues.

I am using the Warne ULTRA HIGH quick detach rings.. They are return to zero, and I used them on my muzzleloader and my AR and so far they do seem to RTZ.

The PEPR mount by Burris works great for all scopes 56mm or smaller.
Here is my Thumper witha PEPR and a 1.5X6 X 36mm Nikko scope.

I have been making great use of the Leupold Rifleman See-Thru rings (link below) for years now with no shift in POI. They have a slight angle to them AND the rings can be used to get the scope mounted 1/2" or so more forward than would be possible with normal rings (since normally rings are straight up and down).

They won't break the bank that's for sure!

The Burris is avail in 1" or 30mm for around 69 bucks at Midway and last I checked they had them in stock.
Here is the Burris PEPR with a Simmons 50mm scope mounted on the 6.5 Grendel upper. I was doing a "prefit" before my barrel shipped out just to see how it was gonna fit.
