First, I need to tell you guys, thanks for your patience. It is a full blown spammer war on the other side of that ridge that you guys never trek to. Eric and I deploy a full blown tactical nuke several times a day over there, (am I glowing yet?), and we are having much success in keeping these mooncalves at bay. You guys will hopefully never have to see the cockroaches and the trash they post.
But I do see a slight risk and I want to let you guys in on it so that you don't fall for a trap.
Over on the left corner of the Portal, you will see where we have new users signing up every hour. Those are the bad guys! Especially if they have a handle that sounds pretty lame or nonsensical. Do not, for any reason, click on these guys to view their profiles. Do Not click on any links they may be providing in their profiles. Those links are to be considered as a HIGH THREAT to your PC and to your privacy. Just ignore them. We do eventually get the information nuked, but it take a little time. It's just not worth the risk, as we don't know what kind of malicious file you may open. It could attack your PC or worse. We are working on bettering the security and at the same time, "deleting" these users.
If these spammers would realize that nothing they post is ever going to see the public eye and that they are just wasting their time and resources, they would have more time to just go to some other forum, like maybe PETA or OCCUPY forums and bug them. But as it stands, they have to get through Mudbug or myself first. And yes. WE SCREEN THEM ALL. And out of the last three weeks, I have approved maybe three out of 300+ posts and welcomed 3 new members. But these spammers waste a lot of time and make huge efforts to try and sneak in here for NOTHING. Their posts are never published, just trashed. The links never reach a mouse click. Their .EXE attachments are flushed right down the Loo, with the rest of their post, and their username and their profiles deleted. Why waste all that time and energy? The answer to that question is the reason to be careful. Paranoid even.
Do you know what you call a person who isn't just a little bit paranoid? A VICTIM!
