I have been switching back and forth between a scope and red dot on larue mounts on my 450 carbine. Well, for my birthday I decided to buy a dedicated .22 m4 upper. As soon as I had that in hand, I knew I had to have a matching upper in 5.56. I ended up with matech rear sights on them and have enjoyed shooting with them very much. My red dot quickly found a home on my new .22, leaving me without a short range sight for the thumper. It turns out a matech sight fits perfectly under my scope... now all I need is a gas block height front sight.
Are any of y'all running a flip up front sight with the factory handguard? I am worried that the sight post will be too tall to fold down properly. I've thought of going to a railed handguard, but this would be the cheapest and easiest option.
