Good news/Bad news gator hunt

Postby bushmeister » Wed Aug 01, 2012 1:14 pm

Good news! Upon my return from my Alaskan fising trip, I was notified that I had been drawn for my GA gator hunt!! The bad news, I was hoping to dispatch it with my 450BM, but upon further investigation of the rules, it says "once secured, it may be dispatched with a bangstick or handgun".... I'm thinking my carbine could be considered a bangstick...right?

This just means you have an excuse to have WC convert a S&W for your trip. Or you could make your own bang stick for the .450, pipe and some springs with a nail should do the trick but you only really need a .22 to dispatch gators. i would suggest a stainless revolver with 9 shots and a long barrel.
Three is two, two is one and one is none.

I am very happy to report that I managed to harvest a 12' 10", 550lb Gator on my first hunt unguided! Holy cow, it was as good as it gets. I took everything I thought I'd need, and would double it if given another chance. It was a 3.5 hour fight with great loss of gear on my end, but I prevailed. I might just be the first with an alligator skinned 450B!! :D

Awesome! Post pictures soon!

So we grabbed an alligator and we fought another round.
We filled his head with cannon balls and powdered his behind,
And when we touched the powder off, the gator lost his mind..."
