Happy Birthday to me...

Postby Hopalong » Mon Jul 22, 2013 8:57 pm

I sit at a computer all day, working for a high tech outfit doing their best to make sure everyone can get to all their pics and videos from the Cloud. As a result I get exposed to some pretty neat stuff. And work with some pretty interesting concepts. Like numbering systems besides regular old decimal. So with my birthday coming I translated my age to hexadecimal. I'll be 40* on Thursday...

But I digress. I've been working on a little something for myself for this momentous occasion. A new 22 pistol. Paclite barrel, Volquartsen frame, trued and headspaced stainless bolt. Worst thing was trying to find a couple of magazines. Jeez... I'll probably ultimately put some sort of red dot on it, but my budget is blown for now. I have a set of simulated ivory grips, too, with red Ruger emblems that I may try, but that might be a bit much. I can't get out with it until Wednesday, but I'll let you know how it shoots.

*I figured it out in binary numbers too, but it was 1000000. I'm old but not that damn old..

Thanks, Ghost.

Got to shoot the new toy today. It consumed a wide range of ammo without problem. Nice to shoot, too, good trigger, overall weight is 13 oz lighter than the Mk III it's replacing. The barrel's treaded if I ever want to tinker with the sorts of add-ons that allows.

It really likes Stingers, good group with one called flyer.

Happy Birthday and nice looking gun! I've been looking at Ruger's 22/45 Lite. They are much lighter than the old Mark II I have and come with a threaded barrel.

My wife said your gun is neat looking, looks expensive, but it sure is a nice-looking gun.

Yeah, it was a little pricey, but I found this place that has good prices, good customer service, and free shipping on top of that:

http://www.rimfiresports.com/

I also found this on eBay, a polymer lower for the Ruger MK II or III:
