*** LOAD DATA FOR THE 450B***

Does anyone happen to have any load data for the 450 Bushmaster with a 200grn FTX bullet?

Welcome Aboard Brian and good choice of bullet!

The 200gr FTX goes through 3 accuracy nodes in my 20" 1:24 AR upper, starting around 35gr of Lil Gun over the Remington 7 1/2 primer. Seat to almost but not quite bury the cannelure and taper crimp down into it to yield a mouth diameter of .474-.475 in as measured with a micrometer as close as humanly possible to the lip of the mouth. Set the taper crimp die using the shortest case you will be reloading. That way, all subsequent tapers will be no greater in diameter. Averages 1 MOA for 5-shots at 100 yds if you do your part.

In a 1:16 bolt action barrel, I don't know if the above applies. I don't own one.

The 200gr really hustles, shoots flatter than heavier bullets, is plenty potent for whitetails and is faster to recover your sight window in case you need a followup shot.

Brian450B-

You can find reliable tested load data for the 200-grain FTX bullet in the latest (6th) edition of the Western Powders Reloading and Data Guide. It's available online in a pdf format.

Lyman's 50th Reloading Handbook contains data for the 200-grain Barnes XPB bullet. Because this bullet is constructed very differently than the FTX, use the Lyman data with lots of caution.

You will find reloading data on this forum for 200-grain bullets, including some generated by yours truly for strong bolt actions. It is probably best to consider such information to be entertaining fiction until you have success using tested loads published by reliable sources.
