Does anyone have any load data for a 245gr Lehigh X Treme Penetrator?

Welcome Aboard Ed!

I have some but ran out of comfortable range weather this past year, before I could work up a load. QuickLoad doesn't have anything like that bullet in its database, so the best one could do is use a starting load for a 250gr all copper bullet. Given they are brass, which while harder, is more slippery than copper, I'd drop a grain or two and go up from there. Maybe drop one degree of slower running powder as well. Certainly not beginner 450b reloading fodder. Its a bullet with more variables than I'm used to loading, so it'll probably take the entire box to safely figure out a sweet spot. Then again, maybe not. I will be doing the workup, come spring time in Minnesota. IE later than spring time most other places.

I looked on Lehigh website and they only have reloading information for their 220gr bullet for the 450bm. Might be a good idea to give them a call and inquire if they have any reloading information for the 245gr.

Yeah I checked with Lehigh and haven't received a reply. It has been a couple of weeks, so I don't think I will get one. I loaded some test loads Hodgdon H110 and CCI 400 primers. 37grs of powder was running 2347fps. Yeah I will have to work down from there for sure.

Yes, my ar would only pull casing out of the chamber about half way. I ran some factory after that with no issues.

it is shot show week - so anyone who's anyone in the gun industry is busy in Vegas right now.

give them a week or so to get home, settled back into the office and then give them a ring.

its just one of those things that this time of year the response from the firearms industry as a whole gets kind of backburnered for everything SHOT show.... and for smaller company's it all but empty's the home office that week.

just some perspective as to why things may be running a bit slow on response time right now

39.0 gr Lil'Gun Remington 7 1/2 primer average at 15' 2200 fps 32 fps extreme spread in a Ruger American 16" barrel....haven't had a chance to shoot it in a AR-15 yet...

I loaded some up to 2435 fps ....31" of penetration in wet paper media....should work on bison, moose, elk, large bears....

Also sub-sonic Trail Boss 12 gr. Remington 7 1/2 primer 1035 fps at 15" extreme spread 12 fps Ruger American 16" barrel....8" of penetration in wet paper media at 50 yards 770 fps...

What I've noticed with the Philips type nose gives less penetration than a same weight solid in copper with a 65% meplat with close to the same trauma....

J.D. Jones of SSK Industries worked with Leihigh Bullets making a similar nose in the mid-late 2000's....they were used to take some buffalo's and elephants...

Ok tried some more test loads today. Still using CCI 400 primers and Hodgdon H110 powder. 35.5 grs 15' 2227fps. I think I will be sticking with this load, but I am still having issues with the casings ejecting. I ran a couple of factory rounds with no issues, so I think my problem is with the sizing of the casings. I am using Hornady dies. I am thinking of buying a set of Lee dies to see if this fixes my problem. Any thoughts?
