I'm heartbroken because I forgot my range book that day and jotted the results down on the back of a target, I purge old targets out of my range bag every now and then. Now I can't find it. I haven't given up on it though. When things get a month or two on them, I'm less able to remember that I'm still actively looking for them. It just comes back to mind when something re-triggers the memory.

I finally got to the range to shoot up the test loads I've had sitting around. I'm pretty happy with the results. Now the hard part is deciding on which powder I want to use. All rounds were shot from a lead sled at 100 yards using a 6x optic from my 18" GLFA barrel AR-15 1:24" twist:

This powder put five rounds almost in the same hole, but measured worse than the LG due to a flyer. Overall, I think it was a better grouping. All the cases fed perfectly (except when jammed up by the brass catcher). There was some sooting, primers looked good.

The LilGun loaded rounds shot to the same POI at 100 yards as the SWHP, and averaged 100 fps faster. This was odd to me, because at the same powder charge last time, I was averaging 2450 instead of 2300. I'm not sure why the difference. I honestly couldn't notice a recoil difference, but I was shooting from a lead sled.

Here's a picture of the spent cases side by side. The SWHP is on the left and the LG is on the right.

Finally, here was my control, the last of my FTX (and a couple XPBs). The bottom group is a group of 5 factory Hornady Black FTX. The top group is 3 XPB. I had higher hopes for that group.

In summary, I'm sticking with the HAP bullets for plinking and the 300 grain XTPs for hunting. The zero is easy, for my scope its only 6 clicks vertical between the two bullet weights. Both times I've shot the XPBs they have grouped an inch left. I probably won't be buying any more of those considering the price. I think I'll stick with the SWHP for the load since I use it for my 10mm as well, but the results for me are so similar that you could get away with either one. The HAP bullets are a bit more expensive than standard FMJ-FP, but it's nice to be able to hit what you're shooting at.

P.S. I shot some resized .451 300 grain XTPs with 32.2 grains LG and they averaged 2000 fps, primers looked fine. They hit high on the target and I didn't get a grouping.

Very Nice results Ron. I've never tried that Heavy Pistol powder. My Lead Sled is not a Ransom Rest, that's for sure. Its fairly stable but the rear elevation screw wobbles a little, even with 40 pound of lead up front in it. They could have designed that a little more stable IMHO. Mine is an older Lead Sled DFT, so perhaps they have improved it. I get as good if not better results from a BR 1000 front rest and rear Protektor bag filled with lead shot. The bag still drifts a little under recoil and needs repositioning every few rounds, so nothing's perfect.
