remington 260gr accutip

Postby Jdkg2010 » Wed Jan 09, 2019 11:25 pm

has anyone used the Remington 260gr accutip during a hunting extravaganza, if so how did it perform. i am getting excellent results accuracy wise from the ammunition but the projectile looks similar the the Remington golden sabers. we all know the golden sabers have a bad habit of jacket core separation and bad weight retention. any information would be greatly appreciated.

I never even heard of them. Who has them for sale? I'm kind of intrigued.

They've been around for a while: Exhibit A

Just to add my experience, even though similar experiences are probably brought up in Hoot's thread.
The Remington ammo leaves a lot to be desired in just about every way. Never took game with them, but heard of them having inconsistent performance. I bought some a few years back, ended up with 5 or 6 different lots, only one had acceptable accuracy (go figure I only had one box from that lot). The rest were horrible. Biggest issues were case mouth taper, OAL, and bullet tension. I stopped shooting them after a few boxes, and sat on them. When I got into reloading, I decided to play with them. I took one lot I had a couple boxes of that shot ok, sorted them out into groups, then adjusted OAL's and crimp's. They grouped much better, but still not great. Ended up selling the rest off.

I really like them. Same bullet they use in 20 gauge premier ammo. I do like hornady better so far. I'll do a on game comparison in Nov. On YouTube I watched guys using same projectile in a 20 ga. on deer @300 yards. I can get the same speeds with a lot less barrell in the bushmaster

When I first got my 450 American the Remington bullet is all they had at the time and I wanted to sight the gun in the next day so bought them . Shot 2 deer with that round with no pass through , but the entry hole was the size of a silver dollar and lots of blood. Switched to Hornady this year and the deer I shot didn't far and had good blood , but I've been hearing some bad results with the Hornady. I'm undecided on the two rounds

I tried the Remmys in my AR when they first came out but I couldn't keep them under 3" where as the Hornady 250 were 1 1/4" all day long. I'm just not a FTX fan based on past performance.
