I have a feeling Hornady isn't going to really test this bullet. They will probably just list it under the 250 FTX data because it is so similar, just with it's own OAL. They do it through out there loading manual.

theres no way the lawyers are going to let them publish data without doing at least some confirmation pressure testing first. especially when working with powders like h110 that are known to be touchy at upper levels.

while i suspect you're correct and we can just use 250 data (and probably head right for the 38gr lil gun load with some simple testing)... as a major manufacturer they've got things tying their hands before they can actually let data out into the wild.

They might do some testing, probably max loads, and if the charge isn’t quite as high as the 250 FTX, I bet they change the load data for the 250 FTX. Mainly, I’m doubting they have a separate page just for the interlock.

And to your point about the lawyers not approving, then no one would release a bullet until load data is published. Which doesn’t usually happen. Case in point, you have Barnes, who still to this day, doesn’t have load data on their own website for the 275 TSX (or any 450B for that matter). I believe it wasn’t until Hodgdon released their own data on the bullet, that Barnes had any load data, if you personally contact them.

lots of bullets out there without published data by the bullet manufacturer - which was not my point. releasing a projectile without data, vs releasing data without testing are two entirely separate legal issues - the 2nd of which would put them in a direct position of liability.


my point is that hornady isnt going to simply plug the 245gr interlock onto the 250gr ftx data set without TESTING IT FIRST. the load data, when published, likely will as speculated probably turn out to be exactly the same & grouped into the 250 gr page as you suspect.


but they're not going to say "go ahead" until they've actually had time to get those load ranges fired down the test barrels at their facility and confirmed that they do in fact stay within cartridge pressure specs.

I wouldn't have thought that the hornady tech that I talked with on the phone would have given me any information at all unless they were going to publish information at some point

Quick work up for 5 rounds 245gr SP
hornady published data for 250gr FTX with lil gun MAX is 37.9gr I used 37.2gr C.O.A.L. @ 2.245"
Hornady head stamp once fired brass
Case length 1.690"
Prime Winchester WSR
AVERAGED 2424 fps
No pressure signs in the tea leaves or snake oil that I can read although this is a bit in the red zone for my personal liking. I will load more soon thinking more like 35.5-36gr. Will post more info later.

That seems fast for that charge of Lilgun even with the old hot lots, as they say, all guns are different.

Did you get a chance to put them on paoer?

Did put on paper and wasn't satisfied so didn't post results. I'm hoping to tighten groups up with different chrge. Was mostly looking for velicities with no bench or rest. I'm going to load at least 2 more strings of 5ea
I agree it seems a lil on the hot side that's why I'm going to back the charge off some. I'll eventually get this dialed in at least for my needs

Ran 5pc same specs as above with 36.5gr lil gun and another 5pc same spec with 36gr lil gun. Still too hot for my liking. I realize I'm working backwards of a ladder chart. Thinkin I'm gonna go with 34gr lil gun on another 5 rounds. I'll post results soon for velocities. On the plus side I put a scope on instead of using peep sight and groups are 1"-1.5" moa @ 100yrds. Plenty good in my world
