Bolt parts

Postby Brencade67 » Wed Feb 12, 2020 9:45 am

New to the forum but have been reading it for a few months. A lot of great information on here and I appreciate the help. I have a question. Can a 450 bolt be compatible with a 458 for parts like the extractor, pins, springs, etc.? I only ask because 458 heads seem cheaper and more readily available than for 450 heads. I know the extractor has a more pronounced angle on the 450, but was curious if anyone was using the 458 bolt or even the 7.62x39 extractor. I was gathering parts for various reasons. Thanks

Welcome aboard.

I have used Youngs 458 bolts before with no problems and have a couple Leigh 458 bolts to try this spring but not expecting any issues with them either.

I've got a bolt marked 458 in one of my rifles and it works fine.

Thanks. I ordered an 458 extractor from Lehigh and new ejector and spring from Tromix. Shot some today. Not FTE or stovepipe.
